Company History
Homeschooling began formally for the Curry family in 1989. From personal experiences arose Easy Homeschooling. In 1994 Lorraine began writing about the method with "helpsheets" and the newsletter, Easy Homeschooling Tips & Topics, which was published for three years. The next venture was rare antique books sold primarily through the email list "First Notice." In 1999 the first edition of Easy Homeschooling Techniques was published. The third edition was published in 2004. Easy Homeschooling Companion was also published in 2004. The General edition of Techniques was published in 2006. Fields with God and Easy Homeschooling Curriculum were published in 2007.
Lorraine Stobbe Curry was born December 7, 1947 in Grand Island, Nebraska. She attended Catholic schools in Grand Island and graduated from Kearney Catholic High School in 1966. She was a cheerleader, class officer and homecoming attendant.
She then attended Kearney State College (University of Nebraska at Kearney) for a year, after which she attended Ringling School of Art in Sarasota FL and Traphagen School of Fashion in NYC.
After working in the garment industry in Los Angeles, she moved to Hawaii in 1970.
She sold life insurance and became the first female member of her company's President's Cabinet.
Lorraine graduated from Maui Community College with a degree in apparel design and construction. During this time, she worked in garment manufacturing as an assistant designer/patternmaker.
She returned to Nebraska early in 1980 and married Andrew Curry Jr. on November 22, 1980 at Abundant Life Christian Center in Grand Island, Nebraska. In the early 1980s she performed concerts at The Rock in Grand Island.
Along with writing and illustration, Lorraine is interested in home decorating, gardening, scenic oil painting and things Italian.
Statement of Faith
As a young adult on Maui, Lorraine was introduced to Jesus Christ through his life-changing Word (the Scriptures). The actual transformation happened right after an earth tremor, when she was told, "If you really believe in Jesus, you don't have to be afraid of anything." She envisioned Jesus on the cross dying specifically for her and was born again. She then began studying the Scriptures and faith came, as those same Scriptures say it will (Romans 10:17). She has learned that God's word is true by "putting it to the test,"- by standing on it alone in the past for serious physical needs as well as seeing God provide for her daily needs and desires. Lorraine says, "What God says, I believe. That is my Statement of Faith."
