Breaking Unproductive Patterns By Lorraine Curry Sometimes it takes a drastic change to shake self out of unproductively. When you know that you need to make changes, but have had difficulty in doing that, try these drastic steps. Change your schedule. If you work better at night, work the night shift. Maybe you have no children or other responsibilities. Then, who cares if you sleep all day and work all night? If it works, work it! If it will help make changes that you need in your day, do it! Many people work the night shift. It’s no disgrace. Do you wake up in the night? Instead of lying there for hours, get up and do something! One night I made coffee, and got a whole lot accomplished before going back to bed. Get some new motivating books! I am always looking for new books. You can keep a wish list at amazon, or just a special page for the next books you want. I hope you find my books motivating! Plan. Write a plan, a schedule and keep it! My books and previous posts give ideas for planning. Stop wasting time or wasting as much time. God gave us a brain to use, not to waste. Always make self-honoring, God-honoring choices. Wasting time is not one of them. Socialize after your work is done. Stop looking negatively at present or past. Forget it! Nothing you do will change in anyway. Expect change, expect better. Make drastic changes. This could be any area of your life. Travel someplace exotic. Change your hairstyle or other “style.” Get a job. Quit a job. Start a business. Sell a business. Change patterns. Eat foods from a different culture. Work a different shift (as noted above). Drive a different route. Pray. God can show you unique ways to break unproductive life patterns! |
