"Letting-Go" Lessons Sometimes it seems like the process of letting my children go has taken forever. It is so, so hard - and harder still for homeschoolers. I would not have made it this far without the Lord's help. Do these things while you have opportunity.
1. Redeem the time. Never neglect study nor training. As sure as the sun sets each day, the night will come when your teaching will be over.
2. Pray fervently. Start when your children are young if possible. Your job is to pray the way ahead of them. It will be good.
3. Broaden your territory. Do not restrict your ministry to only your children. By expanding your borders when they are young, you will not only show a good example of Christian service to them, you will also be able to easily walk into more ministry when your mother-ministry is finished.
4. Do not isolate yourself from the family of God. If you do, when your children leave, you might be painfully alone.
5. Pray that God will prepare godly male teachers for your sons. Older sons are naturally more receptive to a man's teaching and modeling. Pray especially for their father and allow your husband to lead early on.
6. Make sure it is God's timing before letting go. Keep a firm hold on your children until God says let go. Listen to Him not others.
7. Jesus has a "mother-heart." Men hated him, spat on him, and abused him terribly. He loved so much, he overlooked it all and said, "Father forgive them." Keep loving your children no matter what they do. God can turn it around.
8. Pray through. Be willing to be poured out for your children and others. Travail in prayer. Pray through until you can lay your burden down, knowing that Mighty God has taken it up.
9. In everything give thanks. Because He knows what he is doing whether we see it or not and He doeth all things WELL!
Scriptural Prayer for Our Children We recognize the inherent Power of the Word of God and agree with God in His Word:
- All my children are taught of the Lord and great is their peace. Is. 54:13
- I will refrain my voice from weeping, and my eyes from tears: for my work shall be rewarded, and my children shall come again from the land of the enemy. And there is hope in my end, that my children shall come again to their own border. Jer. 31:16, 17
- I train up my children in the way they should go and they do not depart from it. Prov. 22:6
- God is preserving my children from this evil generation forever - preserving them wherever they may go, preserving them from bad relationships, preserving them from addictions, preserving them from any and all things that the devil could hope for them. Ps. 32:7 and others.
We thank you Lord for your Word that will not return void but will accomplish all these good things for us and our children.
In Jesus' name, Amen
